MXR 50th Anniversary Phase 90: Awesome Gold Limited Edition
Another gold phaser!
MXR has just announced the 50th Anniversary Phase 90, a Gold Limited Edition model of the classic phaser.
MXR 50th Anniversary Phase 90 Gold
The MXR 50th Anniversary Phase 90 Gold Limited Edition model comes in a gold finish for a limited time and will be available in March, priced at $200. It celebrates the classic phaser effect, which uses one Speed knob to control the phaser effect.
Simple 70s Style
I would also do it on record, saying it is one of the all-time classic phasing effect pedals. The simplicity of the effect is a massive part of its charm, and it just does that phaser thing perfectly. MXR has multiple versions, and they are all great.
1972
The MXR Phase 90, released in 1972 (what a great year, ahem) as the inaugural pedal from MXR, has become a steady fixture on the pedalboards of countless musicians worldwide. Its enduring popularity is evident in its widespread use by a diverse array of artists, ranging from David Gilmour and Eddie Van Halen to Tom Morello and John Mayer.
It is the second gold phaser pedal to be announced this month, as EHX announced the limited-run Small Stone earlier this month. It’s just typical that you wait for the gold-finished phaser bus to arrive, and two turn up!
Scalpers
This is another scalper’s delight and will undoubtedly turn up on auction sites at vastly inflated prices. If you need a gold phaser stompbox in your life, you can register your interest on the MXR page (see link below), and they will be officially out for sale on 18 March.
