The new MXR Yngwie Malmsteen Overdrive pedal has been officially announced, and it looks very similar to one of his previous signature pedals made by Fender.

This new bright red, two-knob MXR Yngwie Malmsteen Overdrive pedal is the latest signature product for the Swedish guitar maestro. This musician is famous for his ultra-clean, fluid, legato playing style and lightning-fast neo-classical chops. He needs an overdrive pedal that won’t kill his playing brilliance and can translate his precision picking at high volume.
We all know he uses scalloped fretboards on his Fender Strats and favours loud Marshall amps, but he still uses an overdrive to give his tone that edge. This latest MXR signature overdrive pedal looks suspiciously similar to the signature Fender pedal he released around ten years ago.
Less is More
This new signature MXR pedal has two controls, Gain and Level, so it could not be any simpler. However, MXR hasn’t said much more about this new effect and why it is specific to Yngwie’s needs.
