I remember early versions of n-Track. It was one of the first audio multi-track recording system for Windows that I played with. It’s always been decent but often flies a bit under the radar. But this is changing. Over the last few years n-Track has made its way to OSX, iOS and Android. Its reach and competency has become compelling and version 9 just looks awesome. If you’ve not seen it before then you might well be missing out.

n-Track Studio has all the trappings of what we expect from a DAW. Multi-track audio recording, effects and mixer, MIDI editing and plug-in and virtual instrument support. But it has some cool features of its own like a Step Sequencer, onscreen drum kit, 2d and 3d sonograms and support for Pure Data patches.

New in version 9 we have integrated pitch correction from VocalTune. A Guitar and Bass Amp plugin offers a range of amp and cabinet models based on all the classics you can imagine. Online integration has been added via their Songtree app. You can invite collaborators into your project or contribute to a song started by others.

The interface looks great (it hasn’t always) all flat, clear and modern. The regular version is €69 which gives you everything you need for a decent recording studio. The Extended version at €139 brings deeper audio editing, 64bit mixing, surround sound, external controller support and Pro Tools AAF export. The Suite version at $179 basically adds a bunch of premium sound banks. Added bonuses include free installation on multiple computers, free online storage with Songtree and a 30-day money-back guarantee. That’s all pretty juicy.
