NAMM 2016: Garritan gets up close with Personal Orchestra 5
The long running Garritan Personal Orchestra evolves and enlarges into version 5. It’s five times larger than the predecessor comprising of a complete orchestra of sounds with more than 500 instruments. There’s 77 new section string and 24 new solo string articulations with new techniques, special effects and body instrument resonances. There are 6 additional choir groups featuring boy and children choirs along with sopranos, altos, tenors and basses. The brass section has been updated with samples from the renowned ProjectSAM. There are two new grand pianos, a new harp, a custom organ, new impulse presets and a concert hall full of extra stuff.
GPO5 brings in an innovative technology called Sonic Morphing which continuously varies the timbre while ranging from quiet to loud sounds. It’s not very clear what that means but it sounds interesting to read. Gary Garritan considers GPO5 to be a “huge leap forward”.
GPO5 will be available as a USB drive or a download for Windows or OSX from 1st February priced at the extremely reasonable 99 GBP.
