NAMM 2016: Marshall 2525 Mini Jubilee amp head and combo
Marshall have announced ‘mini’ versions of their classic ‘80s Jubilee amp series. Both amps are styled and tonally based on these much-loved old Marshall amps. Released to coincide with their Silver Jubilee, the originals have since gained a great reputation amongst players.
I owned one as a kid and the original Jubilee amps were brutally loud at 100/15 watts, so to have them in a lower output is a good idea for most of us. Tonally a very popular amp back in the day, the only real issue with the originals was they were so ‘bloody loud’ even when you ran them on half power. This contemporary ‘mini’ take on the Jubilee Series also features High/Low output switching (20 Watt to 5 Watt).
The demo sounds pretty close to the original ones and the styling looks in keeping too, with the silver tolex and matching silver front panel. All in all, these are something a lot of people have been asking for for a very long time, so these should prove very popular.
