NAMM 2016: Supro debuts all-tube 1695T Black Magick amplifier
Want to play “Stairway to Heaven” and can’t hold it back any longer? But seeing as you’re the demanding type, you want a sound that’s true to the original? Seeing as talent – ahem – surely won’t be an issue, how about simply getting yourself the right amp for this sonic endeavour? Well, the original amp from 1959 is long gone…
With the Black Magick amp, Supro are now bringing this classic design back: A recreation of Jimmy Page’s own amp with 25 Watts and a couple of twists such as a 1×12 British-voiced custom speaker.
The preamp section features two parallel channels with independent volume controls and a common tone control. When using only the first input jack, channel one and two are automatically linked for double gain. According to Supro, “Black Magick absolutely rips for heavy blues and classic rock guitar styles”. They promise the complete range of tones from warm clean sounds to heavy distortion by simply adjusting your instrument’s volume knob. Footswitchable depth and dimension are added to the sound with the signature Supro power tube tremolo.
