NAMM 2017: Ibanez celebrate 30 years of the JEM 777 and ‘Nessie’ is finally released!
Loch Ness Green JEM 777 - Yes, please!
Ibanez has announced their 30th Anniversary models of the iconic Steve Vai JEM guitar and they have finally released those classic colours and of course, this includes the most coveted JEM ever: the Loch Ness Green!
Loch Ness Green
Those first three JEM’s released back in 1987 came in three garish ’80s fluorescent colour schemes; Desert Sun Yellow, Shocking Pink and of course the rare pre-production Loch Ness Green!
I don’t have to tell you what a JEM guitar has or who Steve Vai is, but you may not realise just how coveted the Loch Ness Green model is, as it was never made in large numbers. For me, this 30th anniversary release is a huge deal, but then I have always had a soft spot for the original JEM 777 models.
Specifications
The JEM 777 comes with a 5-piece maple/walnut neck and a basswood body, it has the iconic Disappearing Pyramid inlay and 6105 frets. Of course, there are DiMarzio Evolution pickups throughout and an Edge tremolo. This guitar screams Steve Vai and many JEM fans will be clamouring to pick up one of these I would imagine, and I love it!
