NAMM 2017: Sterling by MusicMan adds St Vincent, Valentine and Majesty guitars
Signature guitars at a budget price?
Sterling by MusicMan has just added a load of pictures from their NAMM 2017 stand and there are some exciting new guitars planned for 2017. Unfortunately, there are no official details over at the Sterling official site yet, so for now, we’ll just have to drool over the photos from their Facebook feed.
St Vincent
The St Vincent model was released in 2016 (I’m pretty sure I called it a shovel…) and it has turned out to be a really popular model, just it wasn’t that cheap, as the full priced Music Man version is at a premium price point. Sterling are now releasing a version that should hopefully be a lot cheaper, no official RRP yet, but as the Sterling brand is essentially what Squier is to Fender, you know it’ll be a fair bit cheaper.
RRP $599
Valentine
Again, this model came out as a full priced version in 2016, I wasn’t a fan of the look, buy it won ‘Best Of Show’ at NAMM 2016, so what do I know?
Sterling are releasing it with an Ashwood body in a translucent Buttermilk finish and it comes with a Roasted Maple neck, but as with the Sterling St Vincent model above, it should be a lot cheaper than the Music Man version released last year.

John Petrucci MAJ100 Majesty and JP150/157
Petrucci has so many Music Man models that I often confuse them all these days (I have owned a JP6 and a JP7 in the past). It’s no big surprise that Sterling has added more of his guitars to their line-up for 2017. They do look really nice, I think, and I hope they will play as well as their siblings.
The new MAJ100 Majesty in Ice Crimson looks very modern and I quite like the colour of the Neptune Blue JP157 on their Facebook page.
