NAMM 2018: Line 6’s Helix 2.5 update imminent – and it’s huge.
Friedman BE-100 and MESA Lonestar added to Helix!
The long-anticipated Line 6 Helix 2.5 update has been announced and it is massive, including a shedload of legacy effects and two cool boutique amp emulations for you to drool over as well.
Line 6 Helix 2.5 Update
This is a long list of effects and also a couple of sweet new boutique valve amp models based on the Mesa Lonestar and the Friedman BE and HBE of channels the BE-100 amp head.
Effects galore!
It isn’t that long since we had the 2.3 update late last year, just in time for Christmas, but the 2.5 update looks to eclipse that with an insanely long list of new reverbs, delays, filters, modulations and distortions.
The update is due soon according to Line 6‘s website and it is one we at gearnews cannot wait to try out.
Make sure you scroll right to the bottom of this article and check out some of the new reverbs being demoed by Alex.Guitars on his YouTube channel, they sound pretty glorious and well worth the wait.
I’ll keep you all informed and let you know exactly when 2.5 officially drops, so for now take a look at the official Line 6 list and start drooling…

Improvements/Changes
If a Snapshot has been given a custom switch colour, that switch ring now displays a dim colour when not active
12 of Helix’s 17 reverbs originally appeared in M-Class processors and Verbzilla. As such, they’ve been moved into the new “Legacy” subcategory within the Reverb category
Helix’s tempo no longer responds to pressing TAP at tempi lower than 40.0 BPM (Beats Per Minute). This is to ensure that multiple fast tap entries are recognized properly, as previously, they could be seen as one really slow tap entry. You may still manually select a tempo all the way down to 20.0 BPM and your presets can still be saved with tempi down to 20.0 BPM—just touch TAP and turn Knob 6 (BPM)
