NAMM 2018: Marshall Origin amp series, back to basics
New no-nonsense, back to basics range single-channel amps
The new 2018 Marshall Origin amp series has been announced today at the NAMM Show, the series is a no-nonsense, back to basics range of all valve single-channel amps, for those that just want to get cool tones and play.
Marshall Origin
It would appear the idea behind Marshall’s new Origin amp range is to give players a choice of either lower or high wattage, single channel pure valve tone amps. No, silly gimmicks (hopefully) and just a simple all valve amp tone.
Full Tilt
Powered by three ECC83 preamp valves and two EL34 power valves that have that British amp tone that made Marshall famous in the first place. The Origin amps all have Normal and High Treble preamps voicings, so you can blend the two using a Tilt control to get different voicings from a single channel.
They are available in either 5-watt,20-watt and 50-watt models and each model has an effects loop and an emulated speaker output for recording.
You can get the 20-watt and 50-watt versions as either head or combo formats as well, so plenty of choices for you to choose from.
RRP – Marshall Origin 20-watt combo – GBP 459
RRP – Marshall Origin 20-watt head – GBP 559
RRP – Marshall Origin 50-watt combo – GBP 559
RRP – Marshall Origin 50-watt head – GBP 759
Then there is a cool little 5-watt combo version for studio or home use.
RRP – Marshall Origin 5-watt combo – GBP 439
They all look nice and the styling is retro and not overly bling, so hopefully, they will also have that classic Marshall tone, because that is what everyone wants from these amps right?
