NAMM 2018: Studiologic Numa Compact 2X piano/organ/synth
StudioLogic has a go at offering a Nord style performance keyboard with 3 sound engines.
Numa Compact 2X
It carries forward all the professional technology of the Compact 2 controller keyboard while expanding the control panel and adding 3 independent sound engines and USB audio. As the name suggests it’s “compact” while still offering an 88 note semi-weighted keybed with aftertouch.
The tone-wheel organ engine is derived from the Numa Organ and comes with drawbar control. The piano and synthesizer sounds are taken from the Studiologic Sledge synthesizer and sample-based sound engine. It comes with 88 factory sounds including concert pianos with string resonance and 1GB of flash memory. Sounds can be tweaked and saved in one of 99 user preset slots.
As a MIDI controller, the Compact 2X has two zones so it can control another MIDI device and route the sound back in via the audio interface and out of the built-in amp and speakers. Or you could connect another MIDI controller to access another part of the sound engine for a two-keyboard rig.
The Numa Compact 2X should be available soon for $699.95
