NAMM 2018: Suhr Mini Riot distortion pedal announced
Mini purple dirt box launches in 2018
Suhr has announced a new Mini Riot pedal, based on their ever-popular distortion unit of the same name. It might be a lot smaller, but hopefully it’s just as aggro as the original…
Suhr Mini Riot
The Suhr Mini Riot comes in the same bright purple coloured enclosure of its bigger sibling and has three controls labelled Level, Tone and Distortion plus a mini toggle switch labelled Voice. The latter of which controls the distorted tone being derived from either diode or LED in origin.
WIh a true-bypass switch, it won’t get in the way of your guitar when not engaged, so you can use it on your pedalboard easily, it will because of its small enclosure, only power from an external 9-volt power dc supply.
Mini, purple and pedalboard-friendly
I have owned a full sized Suhr Riot for a number of years and will say that it really nails that amp like Plexi tone that I would associate with ’80s era Van Halen and bands of that era.
Therefore, if this new Mini Riot can do the same and save you some pedalboard real-estate, then that cannot be a bad thing at all. After the long-awaited announcement of the Suhr Aura single-cut at this year’s NAMM Show, it would be easy to overlook this cool little distortion pedal, but just like Way Huge‘s new mini pedals, it seems that smaller is once more the future of boutique effects pedals for 2018.
You can check out how the new Mini Riot distortion pedal sounds below in the video posted by Reverb earlier today.
RRP – USD 169
