Plug-in maker Wavesfactory announced Spectre, a rather striking multi-band enhancer for Windows and Mac. The tool combines a boosting parametric equalizer and multi-band enhancer, saturating the signal with a variety of harmonic content derived from 8 saturation algorithms based on classic studio gear.

There are five bands with adjustable Q so you can add to or take away from the signal as you wish. Unlike a regular EQ which cuts or boosts the volume of specific frequency bands, Spectre adds harmonic content that didn’t exist in the original track, making for a more musical end result.

Spectre’s 8 saturation algorithms are as follows:

  • Tube
  • Tape
  • Solid
  • Warm Tube
  • Class A
  • Diode
  • Bit
  • Digital
  • Additional “clean” channel that converts Spectre in a parallel boosting EQ
