NAMM 2019: Blast Cult – The Batavia and The Spellcaster
Modern day Rock'n'Roll classics?
If Blast Cult guitars aren’t on your radar, then you need to re-tune that dial. The company founder Jason Burns is the man behind this American brand and boy does he draw from the country’s musical rich history.
Blast Cult
Part of the fun at Winter NAMM is finding boutique guitar makers and Blast Cult certainly falls into this category. I was drawn to their styling and I love their attitude as well.
I’m sensing a hint of Rockabilly chic and classic ’50s styling with these boutique guitars. The brand is based in Orange County, CA and they make guitars and double basses for players looking for something with Rock’n’Roll styling and that but also need quality instruments.
This year at Winter NAMM, Blast Cult is going to launch two new custom made guitar models, The Batavia and The Spellcaster.
The Batavia
The Batavia is a single cutaway hollow body guitar. The body is constructed from maple with spruce and mahogany bracing, maple neck and has a Pau Ferro fretboard fitted with mother of pearl inlays. It has a set of their new Blast Cult 1580 pickups installed.
RRP – TBC
The Spellcaster
The Spellcaster has a very familiar look to it indeed. This one is a hemlock body, maple neck and Pau Ferro fretboard. The construction and chosen woods make it particularly lightweight. This one comes fitted with a pair of TV Jones Starwood pickups and has a nitrocellulose lacquer finish.
You can order it in either a Dark Brown Burst with some classy gold pinstriping and a black pickguard or for the bold, Institution Pink with black pinstriping and black pickguard.
RRP – TBC
Unique, Boutique and Hip
I love me a bit of boutique goodness and this company has certainly got some style. If you are heading to NAMM this year, make sure you head over to their stand and check them out. I’d advise checking out their website below, as they have some really nice instruments on there and you can buy directly from them.
