NAMM 2019: Godin unveils gorgeous new DS-1 signature guitar with HDR tech
Phil Collins guitarist gets signature model, no jacket required?
This beautiful new Godin Daryl Stuermer DS-1 signature guitar comes loaded with Seymour Duncan pickups wired to a bit of tech, the High Definition Revoicer, that adds a few more tonal options to a visually striking instrument.
Godin Daryl Stuermer DS-1
The Godin DS-1 Signature Edition signature guitar for Phil Collins guitarist Daryl Stuermer comes loaded with a Seymour Duncan Jazz SH-2 neck pickup and Custom SH-11P in the bridge position. They are wired to a five-way selector switch, through a single Volume and Tone control.
The body is Canadian Laurentian basswood and has an AA flame top finished in a high-gloss Trans Red. This is a good-looking guitar with a control layout that’s nice and simple.
High Definition Revoicer
The neck is a 25.5” scale length and is fitted with a Richlite fingerboard. The guitar is fitted with a Godin Tru Loc Tremolo. Another feature is the Godin High Definition Revoicer, a true-bypass system that switches the DS-1S Symour Duncan pickups between passive and active modes, acting like a boost/EQ. See the little black button next to the tone control? That’s the HDR switch. The second video below demos the system if you’re not familiar with it.
I’m going to come clean here: I had not heard of Daryl Stuermer before (sorry, Daryl) and don’t think I’ve knowingly heard his guitar playing, but I think his signature guitar looks stunning.
Check it out in the video below and hear it in action. It sounds as good as it looks, so be careful…
