NAMM 2019: Is MXR about to release a signature Green Day pedal? Yes!
Green Day frontman teases a Dookie Drive pedal!
Billie Joe Armstrong has posted an image of a pedal named the “MXR Dookie” overdrive on Instagram with the caption, “Anyone going to NAMM?”
MXR Dookie Drive?
Pictures can say a thousand words right? It certainly looks like an MXR-branded overdrive pedal, and that artwork certainly is from Dookie and so we think this one is a no-brainer.
Pete, is that you?
I’d expect that this pedal is more than likely based on Billie’s Pete amp head, which is a modded Marshall Plexi 1959SLP reissue that he used during the making of the album Dookie.
We’ll post more information about this pedal as soon as we get it, so stay tuned.
UPDATE 22/01/19
RRP – USD 189 and it launches at NAMM
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Dookie, we’re releasing the MXR Dookie Drive. It captures the sound of both of Billie Joe’s amps in a single pedal so that you can dial in your own variations of that famous Dookie sound.
Though, it isn’t on the MXR/Dunlop site just yet.
