NAMM 2020: Arturia bumps the KeyLab Essential range up to 88 notes
Arturia has announced a new addition to the KeyLab Essential range: the KeyLab Essential 88 which, you’ve guessed it, comes with 88 notes.
KeyLab Essential 88
It’s not terribly exciting but it is a useful and affordable MIDI controller if you need 88 keys. It’s not hammer action or anything this is a velocity-sensitive “hybrid synth-piano feel” which is somewhere towards being a little bit weighted.
As with the other Essential KeyLabs you get 8 backlit performance pads, 9 encoders and 9 faders for MIDI control, some Mackie Control transport for your DAW and a mod and pitch wheel. There is a “Chord Play” mode, a sustain pedal input and it comes with a bundle of half-decent software including the UVI Grand Piano Model D… that’s about it.
It’s a good size though and won’t dominate the entire depth of your desk. So for people who need those additional octaves then for $349 it’s not a bad buy. Should be available in the Spring.
