NAMM 2020: Arturia launches KeyStep Pro controller and sequencer
Arturia’s KeyStep Pro features a 4-channel polyphonic MIDI and CV sequencer with a 16-part drum channel all wrapped up with a 37-key MIDI controller with aftertouch.
KeyStep Pro
The BeatStep Pro was one of Arturia’s more innovative products that’s been a staple of Eurorack and synthesizer users. The KeyStep Pro takes that idea and expands it into 4 polyphonic channels of sequencing over MIDI or 4 monophonic channels over CV/Gate. You can send each channel to MIDI or CV it’s up to you.
Each track gets 16 patterns and each pattern can be up to 64 steps long and each step can contain 16 notes in polyphonic mode. You can link up to 16 patterns to create songs and you can take snapshots to let you switch between scenes. Track 1 can also function as a 16 part drum machine.
The keyboard and MIDI polyphonic sequencing take the KeyStep Pro to another level making it a viable DAWless sequencing alternative. Or you can use it in combination with everything else. 4 channels of CV/Gate sequencing is also very powerful and for $399 you get a lot of control and a lot of sequencing for your money.
Hopefully some demo videos and deeper specifications will be along at the show.
