NAMM 2020: New Charvel Joe Duplantier signature model announced for 2020
The new 2020 Charvel Joe Duplantier signature model for the Gojira frontman has an unassuming appearance. But I reckon it will still be able to tear down buildings with crushing riffs!
Crushing Riffs!
The new Charvel Joe Duplantier signature model is a stripped-back looking instrument, yet you get the feeling that it will sound huge. After his last all-white signature model from 2017, it is a welcome refresh and hopefully the mahogany body will offer a different tone compared to the Nato used in the previous version.
The bolt-on mahogany neck has an ebony fretboard with 22 jumbo frets. The fretboard edges are rolled and fretmarkers are made of big block pearloid inlays. It comes installed with the Charvel Heel-Mount truss rod adjustment wheel for neck adjustments. I have one on my So Cal and it really makes tweaking the guitars a breeze.

The guitar has a Joe Duplantier Signature DiMarzio Fortitude in the bridge position and a DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary in the neck, all wired via a three-way toggle switch and controlled by a single volume control.
Made In Indonesia
The hardware is all Charvel branded and includes a fully adjustable bridge, stoptail piece and locking tuners, all finished in chrome.
I really like the look of this body-shape and think it could be a wonderful instrument. The stripped back look and simple control layout really appeals to me. It is made in Indonesia, so the cost for one is under a grand. If the quality control is consistent, this guitar should be very good value for money.
The street price might be a lot less, so it could be a great option for players on a budget.

It looks great but why are these made in Indonesia? Would love if they moved production to Mexico.
Because Charvel wanted to cut down the cost and Indonesian made guitars are good.
