NAMM 2020: D’Angelico Excel Series Throwback Collection ’30s style
New York-based guitar company D’Angelico is bringing 1930s-style Excel EXL-1 Throwback and the Excel Style B Throwback models to NAMM 2020. The news comes after D’Angelico’s impressive spate of new models announced over the last few days, such as the Premier and Excel Series semi-hollow Mini DC and Deluxe Bedford SH.
Throwback Collection ’30s style
The new D’Angelico Guitars Excel EXL-1 Throwback adds vintage style to its flagship model and incorporates a scroll-style headstock designed by John D’Angelico back in the 1930s. It also comes with some fancy mother-of-pearl inlays set into a nice full-fret ebony fingerboard. These are very wide and era-typical fret markers. The f-holes are multi-bound to complete its classy look.
Mini-Humbucker
Both models come loaded with a floating Seymour Duncan Johnny Smith mini-humbucker to give you those classic vintage tones.
The EXL-1 Throwback features a 17-inch-wide, 3-inch-deep body with a spruce top, whereas the Style B Throwback is slimmed down and features a slim-C neck profile, a shallower upper bout depth and a 25″ scale length. Both these guitars look beautiful, I think. Check them out during Winter NAMM.
RRP – USD 1999 each
