NAMM 2020: EVO by Audient – entry-level audio interfaces for streamers
British manufacturer Audient is taking on the lucrative streaming market with a pair of entry-level EVO audio interfaces. Styled in black and green, the EVO 4 and EVO 8 look like pieces of Razer equipment in your typical gaming setup. Clearly, Audient didn’t want to intimidate the EVO’s target audience in any way whatsoever. Which seems sensible – who wants to deal with a mob of angry gamers, right?
EVO 4 and EVO 8 by Audient
A simple, but sufficient 2-in, 2-out audio interface, the EVO 4 is notable for its new EVO mic preamps (58dB gain), 113dB dynamic range converters (24/192), JFET direct input, loopback function (to hear and record system audio), and the Smartgain feature which automatically adjusts gain when you play an instrument or speak into a mic. All very good specs and features for a GBP 100 audio box.
EVO 8 is literally the same interface with double the I/O – 4 mic pres, two speaker outputs, and two headphone outputs. The price is GBP 169. All in all, a solid brand debut by Audient. These little boxes could fly off the shelves at these prices.
Release date
Both units are available for pre-order, with shipments scheduled for January 22-24.
