NAMM 2020: iRig Pro DUO is all that made the original great, just a bit better
Turning its attention to its iRig line once again, IK Multimedia has left what makes the iRig Pro DUO a solid compact 2-channel audio/MIDI interface intact while making it every little bit better.
iRig Pro DUO I/O
The iRig Pro DUO I/O is still an iOS, Android and Mac/PC-compatible mini-Swiss knife with two preamps, MIDI and bus/AA battery power. But it has nicer preamps with more gain, USB-C connections for modern devices, new drivers for PC laptops and Surface tablets, and other welcome refinements – volume controls with level indicators, and a rubberized external coating to minimize unwanted slips. So a facelift more than a major upgrade, really, but still a great way to welcome the iRig DUO in 2020.
One thing I love about this interface in particular is that IK is shipping it with all the cables you need to get it to work with whatever smart device you have around. There are Lighting, standard USB-A, and USB-C cables waiting in the box, in addition to a little bit of everything from IK’s hefty software library. No confusing cable purchases necesary – remove from box, plug-in, go.
Yeah, admittedly “go” is not always given with each and every possible device you might be plugging into. But that’s no fault of IK’s, for Android phones and tablets, as well as Windows computers, are of countless varieties and no amount of testing can guarantee a successful outcome. That shouldn’t be stopping you, though. Any reasonable modern device should be shaking hands with the tiny tank.
Price and release date
The iRig Pro DUO I/O will go on sale in late January, priced USD/EUR 200. It runs on USB bus power, 2 AA batteries or an optional power supply.

What makes it different with the original pro duo (without i/0)?
