NAMM 2020: Jamstik Studio MIDI Guitar
Finally a guitar MIDI controller that doesn’t look like Dr Who’s cricket bat! The new Jamstik Studio MIDI Guitar is a regular headless guitar with a built in MIDI controller.
Studio MIDI Guitar
The new Jamstik Studio MIDI Guitar is almost pretty to look at. It has all the regular features you would expect from a headless-style guitar. The guitar has a 25.5″ scale length and 24 frets. It comes with two splittable humbuckers and a nice fat bridge with tuners (it is headless remember). The guitar’s Hexaphonic MIDI pickup carries out MIDI responsibilities.
The big advantage with this model is that it can function like a normal guitar when you don’t want to use its MIDI capabilities.
VST
Together with the in-house Jamstik VST plug-in, the Studio MIDI Guitar can also be connected to a computer via a mini jack cable, USB-C or Bluetooth; however the VST is not mandatory. Normal MIDI data is sent (probably CC) and any recipient should be able to use the data.
I think it’s a pretty cool idea. Above all, it finally looks like a guitar and not a ‘stick with strings’ for once. The model has been floating around since last summer, but is now finally available to pre-order at an introductory price, which will then go up to around a grand.
RRP – USD 749 pre-order special price
