NAMM 2021: Astral Destiny – a new modulated octave reverb from EarthQuaker Devices
With 8 Reverb Modes
EarthQuaker Devices never disappoints, and just announced a new modulated octave reverb stompbox called Astral Destiny. The pedal looks like it should have some nice and interesting spacey reverberations on offer, perfect for all kinds of weirdness and beyond.
EarthQuaker Devices Astral Destiny
The new Astral Destiny from EarthQuaker Devices has eight reverb modes, eight editable presets, plus an assignable expression control giving players a lot of possibilities. If you like to tweak, then this is a reverb you need to check out. Especially if you like a bit of strange in your rig.
Reverb Modes
The pedal gives you the option to modulate, pitch bend and/or play with your reverb trails. The reverb modes on the pedal are as follows:
- Abyss: A massive reverb, sans the octave effect
- Shimmer: Adds an upper octave to the reverb tail
- Sub: Adds a lower octave to the reverb tail
- Sub Shimmer: A bit of both of the above, and adds an upper and lower octave to the reverb tail
- Astral: Adds both an upper and lower octave , plus you get a regenerating tail
- Ascend: Upward pitch bending
- Descend: Downward pitch bending
- Cosmos: Adds in a regenerating fifth to the reverb tail.
Basic Controls
You also have controls for Length, Depth, Rate, Tone and Mix, all of which adjust your basic parameters and are relatively self-explanatory.
Stretch
EQD has added a Stretch footswitch, which doubles the length of the reverb and can also add an adjustable pitch-bending effect. This means you can really go to town on your reverb, and easily too, as all it takes is a little tap with your foot.
Check out the official demo video below to hear the new EQD Astral Destiny doing its thing. I think it sounds pretty sweet and the price is more than reasonable too.
RRP – USD 199
