NAMM 2021: NUX MG-30, an affordable amp modeller and multi-effects
With 30 amp models, plus cabs, mics, effects and IRs for just under €300
NUX has launched a new wallet-friendly amp modeller and multi-effects floor unit called the MG-30. With 30 amp models, plus cabs, mics, effects and IRs, it could be a great deal for players on a budget.
NUX MG-30
With a lot of features for the money, the new NUX MG-30 floor pedal could be one to watch if you’re looking for an affordable all-in-one guitar rig. Powered by two NXP RT processors, the MG-30 can give you 1024 samples Impulse Response resolution. NUX says the system latency is ultra-low.
This floor unit also provides 32-bit two-channel audio and a dynamic range of 110dB. Those specs are pretty staggering for a unit nearer the budget end of the market than the top end, better than the similarly priced Mooer GE200 (24-bit and 98 dB respectively).
Modelling
The MG-30 provides users with 25 electric guitar amp models, two acoustic amp models and three bass amp models. That’s a pretty reasonable serving of amps for this price. The amps can be paired with eight guitar and bass cabs, along with eight mics and three mic placement options.
Among the more noteworthy features are pre and post effects, an onboard tuner, a phrase looper and a colour 4-inch LCD screen with a simple UI. You can also use an external foot control, or even as a USB recording interface. The MG-30 connects to NUX’s QuickTone edit software to let you dive down into all those parameters and tweak away, download more patches and load third-party IRs.
A lot of power for your money! Worth checking out if you need a relatively simple yet flexible solution for your guitar rig. Check out the new NUX MG-30 out in the videos below, it should be shipping very soon.
