NAMM 2021: PRS Silver Sky Lunar Ice limited edition with polychromatic finish
A new collectable limited edition Silver Sky Lunar Ice for 2021
A new limited edition PRS Silver Sky! Only 1000 of this Lunar Ice version will be produced. The Silver Sky was inspired by John Mayer’s and Paul Reed Smith’s favourite elements of 1963 and 1964 Fender Stratocaster. Let’s check it out!
PRS Silver Sky Lunar Ice
This 2021 run of PRS Silver Sky Lunar Ice models will undoubtably be popular with the collectors. The 500 2020 Nebula models in the limited flip-flop finish are all selling for exorbitant prices on auction now. It’s a shame that the prices have become so inflated, I think, with collectors driving up prices to astronomical heights. But with 1000 models on offer this year in this finish, you have a reasonable chance of picking one up if you are quick to place your order.
Polychromatic
With its polychromatic finish, this Lunar Ice model Silver Sky will certainly turn heads. While it looks good on the publicity photos, I suspect it will look even better in the flesh. The guitar itself has exactly the same specifications as a regular PRS Silver Sky and comes fitted with a set of three 635JM single-coil pickups.
Maple Fretboard
This is the version with the maple fretboard and the smaller hollow bird inlays, a distinct difference to last year’s model, with its rosewood fretboard. That may contribute to higher collector prices, so be warned. If you want one, don’t and around or they will sell out. WIth the increased production run of 1000 over last year’s 500, hopefully that effect won’t be as marked.
I’ve added a video of last year’s Nebula finish model, so you can see the flip-flop finish and how it reacts to light.
RRP – TBC
