NAMM 2021: Three new D’Angelico models – Deluxe Brighton, Premier Bedford SH and Excel 59
Three very different models from D'Angelico Guitars
D’Angelico Guitars has announced three brand new models for 2021. The new Deluxe Brighton solid-body, Premier Bedford SH semi-hollow and the Excel 59 fully hollow body model will be making their first appearances this year. All three are very different styles of guitars, each with its own unique sound and feel.
Deluxe Brighton
The new Deluxe Brighton solid body model has a double-cutaway design and comes loaded with set of Seymour Duncan Seth Lover humbucking pickups. It has a familiar layout of two volume and tone controls, and a three-way switch. Overall, it looks like a good quality, no-nonsense twin pickup guitar.
The guitar features a 24.75″ scale length, and has a swamp ash body with a flame maple top and a set-through three-piece maple neck with binding. You also get a 14″ radius ebony fretboard with 22 frets. Hardware includes a chrome stopbar tailpiece, paired with a tune-o-matic style bridge. So a nice specification all round which should suit many styles of music.
The Deluxe Brighton is being offered in Vintage Sunburst, Desert Gold and Matte Walnut finishes.
RRP – USD 1499.99

Premier Bedford SH
Next up is the new semi-hollow Premier Bedford SH. This model was previously only available as a Deluxe Limited Edition model, so it is nice to see it reappear as a production model this year.
This guitar has an offset body shape with a single F-hole. You get a pair of Duncan Designed TE-103 single-coil pickups for the neck and middle positions, and a Duncan Designed MH-102 mini humbucker in the bridge position. These are wired up via a single volume and tone control and a five-way blade switch.
The Premier Bedford SH is available in Sky Blue, Oxblood and Black Flake finishes.
RRP – USD 799.99

Excel ‘59
The Excel ‘59 hollow bodied model was inspired by a design by the company founder John D’Angelico. The body is made of laminated flame maple back and sides with a laminated spruce top, and has five-ply binding. This is then paired with a bound three-piece maple neck. Pickups are a set of two Seymour Duncan Great Dane P90 pickups.
The neck has a 16″ radius ebony fretboard with 22 frets and features split block mother of pearl and abalone inlays. Elsewhere you get a D’Angelico Stairstep tailpiece and tune-o-matic style bridge. This model is available in Natural, Viola and Black Dog finishes.
RRP – USD 1999.99
