NAMM 2022: Godin Session R-HT Pro new hardtail performance models
New Session R-HT Pro models announced
The Godin Session R-HT Pro new hardtail performance models come in three colours, and are offered with a few variations on the Seymour Duncan and Lace Sensor pickup combination.
Godin Session R-HT Pro
The new Godin Session R-HT Pro models comes with a distinct reversed headstock and they all feature a fixed bridge.
They come with a Seymour Duncan ’59 on both the Bourbon Burst and Retro Orange models. Then with the Carbon White models it comes a Seymour Duncan Custom Custom humbucker instead. All three colours of the model come with a pair of Lace Sensor Hot Gold pickups in the middle and neck positions, wired via a 5-way switch, volume and tone.
Hard Tail
All the models feature a Canadian Laurentian Basswood body, paired with bolt-on a hard rock maple neck and a rosewood fretboard fitted with 22 frets. Each guitar also comes with a GraphTech nut which I would imagine will help keep tuning rock solid. Especially, as the all have a fixed hard tail bridge.
Made in Canada
As ever, they are all made in Canada. Godin states that they all have a “acoustically tuned” matte finish and the use of a fixed bridge with through holes allows the strings to vibrate more freely, improving both the sustain and natural resonance of the guitar.”
The perfect rock guitar?
It is certainly an interesting model, and overall I think they sound pretty good in the official demo videos. Making them perfect, for modern styles and rocking out with.
Juicy!
I quite like the Retro Orange colour combination, as it really stands out from the crowd. Godin make some great guitars and I’m sure their fans will love these new hardtail models.
MSRP – USD 1440 excluding tax

One response to “NAMM 2022: Godin Session R-HT Pro new hardtail performance models”
I would like to see a wider neck because when you swap out the 10-46 strings to 9s, the E strings slip off the fret board edge with very little effort especially if the frets are polished after a setup.
The hollow cavity beneath the pick guard is an annoyance when playing at low volume. The pickguard on mine is also bubbled up and the single coils pickup covers also make a hollow sound because they are attached to the pick guard.
I think the guitar should come with a truss rod wrench as normal Allen wrenches don’t fit.
