NAMM 2022: Laney announces The Difference Engine delay pedal
With analogue, digital and dynamic delay modes
Laney The Difference Engine delay pedal combines analogue, digital and dynamic-style delay modes into one unit. This latest Black Country Customs effect looks like it could be a lot of fun, with classic delays and more.
The Difference Engine
The Laney Difference Engine comes preloaded with 50 artist patches and has space for 50 user patches. The artist presets include players including Tony Iommi, Lari Basilio, Tom Quayle, Martin Miller, Billy Duffy, Alex Hutchings and Vernon Reid.
With analogue, digital and dynamic delay options, this new delay pedal appears to have a lot to offer players,
Modes
Analogue mode offers traditional tape delays, like a Space Echo with wow and flutter, etc Digital mode is all ’80s-style effects offering up to 2500ms delay time, plus freeze and multi-tap modes. Finally, Dynamic mode is all ’90s style delays, like the TC Electronic 2290 Dynamic Digital Delay, with modulated repeats, ducking and also phase reversal on repeats.
Features
This compact delay pedal features a 2.42” OLED screen, plus full-sized MIDI in/out ports and an expression pedal input. The pedal has stereo in and outs and controls for Colour, Tone, Mix, Repeats and Edit. Along with an On/Off foot switch and a Tap/Freeze foot switch, plus buttons for Menu and Mode.
