NAMM 2022: Walrus Audio LORE Reverse Soundscape Generator pedal
New ambience machine pedal
The new Walrus Audio LORE is an ambient machine based on reverse delay and reverb. Two serially arranged DSP chips, each with its own analogue feedback path, take you on an adventurous journey through time, with pitch shift and ambience.
LORE
Lore consists of five different programs whose core is based on reverse delay and reverb. There are two serially arranged DSP chips, each with its own analogue feedback path. This allows each program a unique mix of affected or unaffected feedback signals. The two paths interact organically with each other and thus offer a wide range of sound experiments.
5 Algorithms
Program 1 combines reverse delay and reverse reverb, with a focus on organically interacting feedback paths. Ideal for large, scary chords.
Program 2 (Reverse Delay in Octave Up Reverb) is an “airy reverb” that adds a high octave in the feedback path for “space ambience”. In combination with the special functions of the X-controller, which assumes a different function for each of the five programs, this sounds particularly good with filigree finger picking parts.
Program 3 (Reverse Delay in Octave Down Reverb) is a rather “dark reverb” that provides a deep octave with harmonic distortions and filters.
Reverse Reverb in Forward Reverb offers program 4. So it is a dual reverb effect, with the next reverse reverb, followed by normal reverb. In addition, octave-up and octave-down can be added and the size and character of the room can be adjusted by time stretching. Perfect for flat pad and drone sounds.
And last but not least, program number 5: Pitch Delay in Pitch Delay. In this mode, two “duelling” pitch delays await you, which counteract or down the input signal, which leads to complex harmonic structures in the feedback network. It reacts like a sequencer at higher delay times and like a harmonizer at low delay times.
Momentary functions and modulation
In addition, the LORE offers some momentary features, such as Dive / Rise (changes the playback speed, resulting in pitch-up/down effects), which are triggered by the two-foot buttons. In addition, the mod slider sets the modulation portion for the effect signal.

Hope someone comes out with a few examples using some synth sounds… This looks to be fun and accessible!
