NAMM 2024: MXR Joshua Ambient Echo – Classic U2?
The Edge's echo in a compact pedal?
The MXR Joshua Ambient Echo has been announced ahead of NAMM is based on classic studio rack effects units and has stereo delays. Perfect for fans of The Edge and his famous echo effects.
Joshua Ambient Echo
This new MXR Joshua Ambient Echo pedal is a stereo delay based on classic rack studio effects. Offering tonal trips out of the ’60s and ’70s to the ethereal ambiance of
the ’80s soundscapes, according to the latest Jim Dunlop Instagram post earlier today.
Yes, this pedal is “influenced” by the U2 album The Joshua Tree and so expect some classic The Edge tones from this new echo effect.
Echo Controls
It has controls for Delay, Modulation, Voice, Regeneration, Division, and Mix, as well as Echo 2 and Trail buttons. The Division control offers five distinct delay patterns; 1/4 note, dotted 1/8 note, 1/8 note, 1/8 note triplet, and 1/8 note and dotted 1/8 note, and the Delay knob adjusts the timing of echoes from 50ms to 1000ms.

The Mix control is used for blending in the amount of wet/dry signal, and the Voice control sweeps a blend of polyphonic octave signals, from -1 to +2. The buttons control a tap tempo for Echo 2 that adds a second echo to the signal. Finally, Trails allows echoes to gradually fade out after the pedal has been switched off.
There is also a handy CTR jack input which allows an expression pedal to control settings for tap tempo.
NAMM 2024
Being stereo and offering expression pedal control opens up the versatility of this pedal so it could be a big hit at the NAMM show this year.
Jim Dunlop has multiple booths at the show this year from 5438, 5439, and 5539 which means we could see a lot of new products from their various effect pedal brands, which include MXR, Way Huge, etc
