NI Maschine 3: A Powerful Update for Beat Makers and Music Producers
An upgrade for better sound and performance
With Maschine 3, Native Instruments presents an extensively updated and long-awaited software version of its popular groove box platform aimed at beat makers and music producers. The new software offers a number of new and improved features as well as deep hardware integration, allowing for an even smoother connection between software and hardware controller. Will the software become even more of a standalone DAW?
All About Native Instruments Maschine 3
Maschine 3 Now With Stem Separation, New MIDI Tools and New Sound Library
The new version of Maschine 3 includes the long-awaited and cutting-edge Stem Separation, greatly expanded MIDI editing capabilities and an all-new sound library with Maschine Central. In addition to these key features, the software integrates basic support for the S-Series MK3 controllers and a new rendering function that offers creative possibilities and workflow optimizations. The software can now be used independently of the Maschine hardware, providing a flexible production solution that can be fully utilized with a laptop and no additional hardware.
One of the key features of Maschine 3 is Stem Separation, which automatically separates audio files into different components such as drums, bass, vocals and other instruments. Powered by iZotope’s RX technology, Stem Separation provides high-quality sound separation for more creative sound design and sampling. Individual elements of a track can be isolated and used in your tracks, opening up new possibilities for remix projects and live arrangements.
MIDI Upgrades and More Sounds for Your Music Productions
The Maschine Central Library is a comprehensive collection of sounds and presets that provides everything you need for productions in all genres. The library includes more than 100 kits with samples for hip-hop, pop, funk, R&B, electronic, and more. There are also 144 Kontakt instruments and over 200 synthesizer presets for classic machines like Massive, Monark, and Prism. From vintage sounds to atmospheric synth pads to modern drill sounds, this library has everything you need to make music today. You won’t need anything else!
Another highlight of Maschine 3 is its advanced MIDI editing tools, which make editing MIDI notes even faster and easier. Notes can be split, merged, deleted and muted for precise control over complex arrangements. Audio previews for MIDI notes and keyboard shortcuts have also been added to further speed up the workflow when working on demanding projects. Also new is the ability to set a custom tempo for each scene, which is especially useful for live performances and dynamic song structures.
Key Features of Maschine 3 for More Creativity
A major new feature in Maschine 3 is the “bounce in place” feature, which converts sounds, patterns and ideas directly into audio files, saving CPU power. This will be music to the ears of many beat makers. Creating audio tracks in this way opens up a wide range of other creative possibilities and ensures more efficient use of resources. Expanded support for file formats such as MP3, MP4, FLAC and OGG also makes it easier to share and use files.
The basic integration of Maschine 3 into the Kontrol S-Series MK3 expands the possibilities for users already working with this hardware. This includes transport commands and the seamless integration of features such as Play Assist. In addition, the module views of Maschine can be displayed on the S-Series displays. This support will be expanded in the future to streamline workflow between products.
Hardware Compatibility and Other Goodies
Of course, Maschine 3 is fully compatible with the standard Maschine Series controllers, including the Maschine Mikro MK3, Maschine MK3, and Maschine Studio. You can also run Maschine+ in controller mode with the new software version, allowing you to work on cross-platform projects. With the upcoming update, Maschine 3.1, it will also be possible to fully integrate the software into the standalone mode of Maschine+, further expanding its functionality.
Native Instruments is shipping the new software with additional software, including Ozone 11 Elements, Massive, Monark and Reaktor Prism, to help you get started with mastering and sound design. Especially for newcomers to the world of music production and sampling, Maschine 3 offers a compact and powerful platform that benefits enormously from the extensive innovations. And it is now increasingly becoming a standalone DAW. Very nice!
