Native Instruments Traktor Pro 4

Traktor Pro 4 is here from Native Instruments. Six years since Pro 3 and 24 years since the Traktor story began, the flagship four-deck DJ software gets a significant update with a number of new features that should please users.

Native Instruments Traktor Pro 4: Stem Separation

The biggest addition is stem separation, bringing Traktor in line with other DJ software like rekordbox and Serato. Better late than never, right? It’s AI-powered, as you’d expect, but also RX-powered. Native Instruments is wisely using technology from other companies that are under the same corporate umbrella, in this case, iZotope.

Stem separation in Traktor Pro 4 lets you apply filters and effects to each stem individually, allowing for on-the-fly remixes.

Native Instruments Traktor Pro 4: Flexible Beatgrids

Another new feature is flexible beatgrids. Long-requested by users, it lets you work with tracks that have a change in tempo, such as a slowdown in a breakdown. All of Traktor’s other time-based functions, such as effects, loops and of course mixing, will conform to and follow the time change.

Native Instruments Traktor Pro 4: Pattern Player

Traktor Pro has always been more than just run-of-the-mill DJ software, with many using it to power a hybrid DJ setup involving decks, effects and drum machines. With version 4, NI has brought the drum machine into the software. Pattern Player adds an additional rhythm layer with sounds from iconic machines like the TR-808 and TR-909, and patterns from producers such as Rebekah, Luke Slater, Len Faki, Chris Liebing, Dubfire and more.

Native Instruments Traktor Pro 4: Ozone Maximizer

Another iZotope piece of tech that’s made its way into Traktor is the Ozone Maximizer. “Take your sounds and sets to new heights while protecting the mix from clipping and distortion,” says NI. “Ozone Maximizer utilizes technology from iZotope’s award-winning Ozone mastering software. Its Intelligent Release Control allows you to finally boost the loudness of your sets without distortion.”

It’s pretty slick and works really well.

No as long as there is no Traktor CDJ equivalent.
