New Epiphone Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess Standard model in Viceroy Brown
Rush guitarist gets new signature Epiphone model
The new Epiphone Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess Standard signature model comes in a classic looking Viceroy Brown finish. It is the perfect guitar for all those Rush fans looking to cover Lifeson’s vast repertoire. Or anyone looking for a locking trem equipped Les Paul.
Epiphone Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess Standard
This new Epiphone signature model for the Rush guitarist brings his preferred Les Paul Axcess Standard model to the range. And, I have to say, I really do like the Viceroy Brown colour scheme on this release. As it is an Axcess model, you get a deep belly carve and a sculpted heel, so a slightly more comfortable and lighter Les Paul.
“The introduction of the Epiphone Alex Lifeson Axcess model based on my Gibson Les Paul Axcess model has all the same attributes and characteristics that I desired so much when we originally designed it. The look, the sound, the playability and the utility, it’s all there for the player – at any level. I’m very proud of this guitar.” – Alex Lifeson
Graph Tech Ghost
The body is made of solid mahogany with a carved maple top and a AAA flame maple veneer. The neck is mahogany, with Lifeson’s custom profile, and has an Indian laurel fingerboard, with classic trapezoid inlays and 22 medium-jumbo frets. But what really sets this Les Paul apart is its Floyd Rose-style Graph Tech Ghost double-locking system, with built-in modular piezo pickup.
Push/Pull and Mix
The piezo system is paired with a set of Epiphone Ceramic Pro neck and ProBucker 3 bridge humbuckers. Both pickups can be coil-split using the push-pull volume controls. With all these options, you should be able to get plenty of tonal variations from this guitar. You can get straight humbucker tones, or go coil-split. Or mix it all in with your piezo system, for which the guitar has two separate outputs. Elsewhere there’s a regular three-way pickup selector switch, individual volume controls for the humbuckers, a master tone control, and a piezo volume control with a push/pull operation for switching the piezo system on and off.
The guitar ships with an EpiLite case to keep it protected between playing sessions. For the money, this is one super versatile instrument, suitable for any guitarist and not just Rush fans.
RRP – GBP 799
