New Gibson & Epiphone signature models planned for 2022
New signature models for Jerry Cantrell, Adam Jones, Kirk Hammett, Richie Faulkner Slash & Dave Mustaine!
It looks like we will be seeing a lot of new Gibson and Epiphone signature models, and the odd Kramer as well. YouTube content creator Agufish has recently rounded up a few of these releases, including the Gibson Adam Jones Les Paul Standard and the Epiphone Jerry Cantrell “Wino” Les Paul Custom, plus other models for Slash and Dave Mustaine.
Upcoming Gibson & Epiphone models
The main releases appear to be for Jerry Cantrell, Adam Jones, Slash, and Dave Mustaine. We have already seen hints of some of these models over the last six months, with the odd leak on Instagram, YouTube, and various other social media platforms, belonging to Gibson, and individuals involved with the brand. The following are images taken directly as screen shots from the Agufish video, which you can watch in full below.
Epiphone Jerry Cantrell “Wino” Les Paul Custom
This Epiphone is a wallet-friendly version of the limited run Gibson Custom Shop release from last year. The specs have been blurred out so we don’t have the full details yet. But we do know that it is in the pipeline for 2022. I suspect we won’t see any ageing, like on the Murphy Lab version, but you could get a nice approximation of this model played by the Alice In Chains guitarist.
Gibson Slash Number 4 Les Paul Standard
The new Gibson Slash Number 4 Les Paul Standard is actually a limited run of 250 guitars. Finished in red, it includes a number 4 decal that you can apply yourself. This limited run is on the Gibson main web site, but hidden within the launch for the new Slash album, which is the first album to be released on the new Gibson Records label.
Adam Jones Signature Silverburst Les Paul Standard
We all knew that this one was coming, but it turns out one lucky person has already purchased one and shared their story over on the My Les Paul forum. The specs include that Silverburst finish, and it also features an exclusive image on the rear of the headstock, plus a 1979 Adam Jones truss rod cover. This particular one shipped in a plain black Gibson case, and sold for $2999.
Dave Mustaine signatures?
It seems that Dave Mustaine has also received Gibson, Epiphone, and Kramer versions of his signature Flying V model. If you look closely at the image below, you can make out most of these new releases. Hopefully we will see them all getting an official launch very soon.
More Signatures? Lots of Flying Vs!
We know that Kirk Hammett has a new Flying V signature in the works, with a possible purple sparkle finish. Then there is the Flying V Adam Jones was seen playing a few weeks ago. There was also the photo of Cesar Gueikian with a new Gibson version of the Richie Faulkner signature Flying V.
So a whole bunch of Flying V models should be getting launched this year, many of them signature models, which could be a lot of fun!

I want slash 4 Gibson standard
I’ve owned many brands/shapes and have been an ESP player since ’88 thanks to Queensryche and Metallica, but I can’t say I’m too into Gibson V’s.
Hopefully Hammett’s will lose the pickguard, go trans-finish, and inline that 3+3 headstock… alá Kramer perhaps?
