New Harley Benton Custom Line CLG-48CE Wide NT – elegant and understated
A new Harley Benton acoustic with Fishman pickup and preamp
The new Harley Benton CLG-48CE Wide NT steel-string acoustic Grand Auditorium sized guitar offers players a solid spruce top paired with a refined-looking walnut body and a mahogany neck. This cutaway acoustic should be great for blues, rock and pop, or perfect for picking and strumming out new tunes on.
Harley Benton Custom Line CLG-48CE Wide NT
Due to its larger body, the new CLG-48CE Wide NT should have reasonable sound projection, making it a good all-rounder. The guitar has an X-bracing design and a cutaway, so getting up to that 20th fret should be a breeze. You get a solid spruce top, walnut body, and a mahogany neck with a Pau Ferro fretboard. There is a matching Pau Ferro bridge, and the subtle binding is plain black, which I approve of. It may not be very fancy, but I would rather have great wood choices and quality hardware, and, as such, this guitar ticks a lot of boxes for me.
The neck has 20 frets and a wider 48 mm nut. This should aid playing chords for those with larger hands, like myself. It also means you have more room to play comfortably, which is nice for when you are working out new songs. I also like the simple overall look of this model. The natural finish is gloss and the neck has nice subtle dot markers Even the pickguard is nicely understated.
Fishman Loaded
The guitar comes with an onboard Fishman Sonicore pickup and its matching Presys-II Preamp system, with an integrated tuner, so you should be covered for all situations. You get controls for Volume, Bass, Treble and Phase. You can expect an instrument that is versatile and, at this price point, offers a lot of value, especially with these specifications. Out of the box they come factory strung with a set of D’Addario EXP-16 strings, which is an added bonus.
Overall, I think Harley Benton is offering players a lot with the new CLG-48CE Wide NT model. It has all the right stuff where it counts, and doesn’t rely on fancy binding and dead shellfish inlays to make you go ‘wow’.
