Mackie OnyxGo and Element EM91CU+ mics for content creators
Mackie’s big product announcement of today includes – next to the Thrash no-nonsense PA speakers – a pair of useful and affordable microphones. The new OnyxGO Mic is an integrated, compact, wireless mic and app pair ideal for on-the-go recording. Likewise, the EleMent Series EM-91CU+ USB Condenser Microphone takes what makes the original EM-91CU great further by improving the recording quality (from 16-bit/48kHz up to 24-bit/96kHz) and adding on-board mute alongside a headphone output. Equipped like this, both mics make it easy to record interviews, podcasts, live streaming, and calls in studio and portable setups.
Mackie OnyxGo Mic
The OnyxGo Mic is a self-contained wireless mic system, with no need for a receiver or additional cables. Users can simply pair it to a smartphone or tablet, clip it on, and record. The microphone also functions as a wireless adapter for wired headphones or the included CR earbuds. There is also a convenient button to control the OnyxGO app. The latter makes it possible to record speech and incoming calls. Uniquely, The AI-powered OnyxGO app will automatically generate a full transcript and subtitle file for any recording. If it works as advertised, this is going to be a blessing!
Other OnyxGo app features include real-time stereo monitoring, recording, and post-processing such as built-in noise reduction, voice-changing effects, 5-band EQ, and reverb.
Mackie EleMent Series EM-91CU+ USB Condenser Microphone
The EM-91CU+ USB Condenser Microphone continues Mackie’s EleMent USB mic range for podcasting, focussing on easy setup, solid build quality, and low-noise circuitry. It’s a class-compliant USB mic that requires no drivers or specialized software. As mentioned, the recording quality sees a considerable upgrade (from 16-bit/48kHz up to 24-bit/96kHz) and the addition of on-board mute alongside a headphone output make for a significant overhaul.

If it works as described and has any quality like the usual Onyx preamps/mixers, the OnyxGo is going to be a great tool for a lot of people…impressive!
