Noise Engineering Bundle 2: Complex, experimental and shape shifting
Noise Engineering has a new bunch of software interpolations of some fabulous hardware modules. Bundle 2 takes on Mani Iteritas, Loquelic Vereor and Imitor.
Bundle 2
The plugins from Noise Engineering are some of the most fascinating out there. Coming from the mindset of Eurorack modular, they work differently from the vast majority of virtual instruments and plugins. Even the interfaces are bizarre and jarring which add to the experimental vibe and overload of the senses.
This new bundle includes the Manis Iteritas shape-shifting synth, the Loquelic Vereor complex oscillator, and Imitor experimental delay.
Manis Iteritas
This virtual synthesizer uses sawtooth waveforms to plot a course through additive, subtractive and FM synthesis. It can go from gritty and heavy to light and sparkly with a few throws of the sliders.
It has a number of different modes:
- Metal – two 3-operator phase modulated oscillators.
- Skin – 6-oscillator additive synths.
- Liquid – which adds a pitch envelope to Skin.
And then the parameters perform acts of violence on sound generation.

Loquelic Vereor
This is a complex oscillator that grooves into three classic synth algorithms, VOSIM, phase modulation and summation synthesis. Yeah, I had to look those up too! VOSIM or Voice Simulation is a particle-based formant synthesis. Phase Modulation is about waveforms competing with each other out of phase. Summation Synthesis….. nope, I can’t find anything on that, but it’s probably to do with maths.
Anyway, this plugin plays with two oscillators that can be used to modulate one another. This often results in complex, harmonically rich sounds derived from FM collisions and the combining of waveforms.
The best thing to do is watch the video.

Imitor
Imitor is a delay effect that has up to 32 delay taps and a whole load of parameters to play with. It loves to be experimental giving you the scope for some really different and interesting delay shapes and patterns.

Plugins
The bundle is available on AAX, AU and VST formats for $119. A portion of the proceeds will go to support the Pangolin, the world’s most endangered mammal.
