Nord Grand 2: More Layers, more Memory, more Effects!
Nord Keyboards is about to unveil the new Nord Grand 2 at NAMM 2024. The new generation of the luxurious stage piano boasts a new keybed developed in collaboration with Kawai. It also features a new user interface and of course more of everything – more layers, more memory, and more effects.
Nord Grand 2
The new Nord Grand 2 retains the design and angled panel of the previous generation. However, one look at the panel reveals that there must be a bunch of new stuff going on under the hood.
First and foremost, the Nord Grand 2 offers more flexibility thanks to two independent piano layers and two sample synths. This layer concept, which has been lifted from the Nord Stage 4, allows for much more complex sound combinations. Moreover, the two sample synths can now access twice the amount of memory (1 GB). However, the piano section memory remains the same at 2 GB.
LED faders for each layer allow for quick and easy volume adjustments in split and layer configurations. What’s more, each layer now also offers its own effects section. According to Nord, the effects were greatly expanded, featuring new Spring, Booth and Cathedral reverbs, a new Spin effect, and an improved delay. The dynamic compressor is another new addition originating from the Nord Stage 4.
Just like the previous Nord Grand, the new generation features a hammer-action keybed made by Kawai. However, Nord says that it has been improved and offers an unprecedented level of control across the entire dynamic range thanks to three sensors per key.
Price and availability
You can now pre-order the Nord Grand 2 from Thomann* for $3699. According to the manufacturer, it will begin to ship in June 2024.
