Old Blood Noise Endeavors & CHVRCHES Screen Violence
Drives and modulated delays in one pedal
Old Blood Noise Endeavors and CHVRCHES have worked together on a pedal named after the band’s latest record, Screen Violence. The stereo effect combines a tube-inspired overdrive section and a one-knob effect that combines modulation, delay, and reverb. Perfect for both guitar and synths!
CHVRCHES Screen Violence
The OBNE Screen Violence pedal is as far as I am aware the first time that the brand has worked directly with a band on an effect pedal. Named after CHVRCHES‘ latest recording, this dual effect has stereo inputs and outputs, though it can run in mono also. The effect also has an expression pedal input, which allows added flexibility for control.
Dual Pedal
As mentioned in the introduction it combines what OBNE describes as a tube-inspired overdrive along with a one-knob effect that combines modulation, delay, and reverb. Users can switch the order of the two sides using the switch labelled First in the centre of the pedal.
Violence & Screen
The Violence half of the pedal is the overdrive section and has controls for Violence, Gain, Voice, and Volume. OBNE claims it will go from gritty boosts to heavy overdrive. Then Screen is the modulated reverb half, with controls for wet-dry Mix and Screen. This one knob controls multiple parameters at once, so I would suggest you check out the video demos below to hear it in action.
Express Yourself
It has a kind of warped tape like feel to the overall sound and this effect is very shoegaze-like in many ways. I can see it being a great studio tool, because of the ability to run it in stereo. Perfect for synths and drum machines, etc. OBNE has also released a limited run of their Expression Ramper footswitch with matching artwork
Price & Availability
The first 200 pedals will come with a signed card of authenticity. Currently, you can either order the Screen Violence directly from OBNE or from the merch stand at CHVRCHES gigs. If you like Old Blood Noise Endeavors effects, and want some more, or if you are looking to buy your first one, then Thomann * keeps them in stock. I guess if this new Screen Violence pedal proves popular, then it may well become available at dealers worldwide at some point as well.
MSRP USD 279
