Open Labs reveal StageLight 3.0 is on its way
Open Labs have announced that their popular tablet and desktop DAW, StageLight, is poised for a new version. In a recent newsletter users are being invited to try out the new beta of version 3.
New in Stagelight 3
The two big new features are, at long last, it’ll have a mixer (shown above) and support for Apple OS X. So far it’s been running on Windows and Android both of which can take full advantage of the multi-touch capabilities of StageLight. I wonder how OS X will interpret that? It can of course be used with the keyboard and mouse but touch is, for me, what sets StageLight apart. You can now create unlimited Send Effects tracks which also form part of the new mixer. The volume control resolution and metering have all been improved. They’ve brought in a track freeze function which is a standard feature these days. There’s a Song Transfer button which will push your project onto other connected devices. Since StageLight can function on Windows, OS X and Android this can be very useful. A lot has been done under the hood to improve the LoopBuilder mode and MIDI editing along with enhancements to the GUI.
There are no other images or information on the website but I did find a little demo on Instagram by “amarelleband” which shows the new mixer exactly as I’ve been telling them to do it for years!

No news on a release date as yet but a public beta is always a good sign on things be well underway.
In the meantime you can learn more about StageLight on the Open Labs website.

I’m interested in that song transfer feature. The only thing that’s kept me from investing time into Stagelight is the lack of exporting MIDI.
