Orange ‘Deep Purple’ Glenn Hughes Signature Model Crush Bass 50
Deep Purple bass tones
Instead of the usual orange colour associated with Orange amps, the new Glenn Hughes Signature Model Crush Bass 50 comes in a purple finish, no doubt a nod to the bassist’s most famous band. The vocalist and bass player for Deep Purple, Trapeze, Black Country Communion with Joe Bonamassa, California Breed, and more recently, The Dead Daisies knows a thing or two about bass. So expect some deep bass tones from this combo.
Glenn Hughes Signature Model Crush Bass 50
Glenn Hughes is obviously known for his work with Deep Purple, so it’s no surprise his new Signature Model Crush Bass 50 comes in a purple finish, which stands out from the normal orange livery of Orange Amplification’s lineup.
Active EQ
The Crush 50 range of bass amps use a parametric mid-band and the whole EQ section was 4 inspired by the company’s Stroke Series amplifiers. The mid-band covers 300Hz to 2.7kHz, whilst the active circuitry goes up to 15dB of boost or cut on both the bass and the middle frequencies, and up to 20dB on the treble frequencies. That is pretty pokey, and should be enough to sculpt your bass tone exactly how you want it.
50-watt Combo
You get the standard 50-watts of power and a 12″ speaker, so it isn’t a huge amp. But it should be perfect for practicing, recording, or for smaller gigs. Plus, you get a built-in tuner, which means one less piece of gear to worry about.
Limited Edition, Any Difference?
Essentially, this ‘signature model’ appears to be standard, with nothing more than a cosmetic change, which includes the purple finish and a silver-coloured ‘Glenn Hughes Limited Edition’ plaque.
Possibly one for the fans of Glenn, or anyone that likes purple? If that’s you, you may want to grab one soon, as it is a limited edition model, and won’t be around too long.
