Oscillot Audio Perspective simulates studio monitors for reference
Perspective is a plug-in from Oscillot Audio. It simulates other sound sources in addition to different studio monitors and claims to faithfully reproduce them with your loudspeakers. That sounds very exciting and could potentially eliminate the need to invest in a second pair of speakers for A/B-ing.
The mixing tool should help you fine-tune your sound by turning your monitors into another pair of speakers (including subwoofers) from another brand – even generic laptop speakers. You can select your monitors in a drop-down menu, which serves as a guideline for the calculation. If nothing is selected, the plug-in will work, but the result won’t sound as intended. There are also three selection menus for the emulations. From them, you can switch sounds quickly and without hearable latency. In order to control the volume differences, you can compensate for them via volume controls.
The concept and the idea seem to be very interesting, especially for small studios with little budget that can now draw upon a large pool of monitors and other speaker systems to refine their mixes.
Price and availability
Oscillot Audio Perspective will be available for purchase at USD 149 instead of USD 199 at the launch date of August 15, 2018. A demo version is available as well.
