Sound Magic Piano One SE is a limited-time special edition of the company’s free piano plugin featuring a vintage upright. Grab it while it lasts! Other freebies this week include the updated HY-Slicer2 free and a new version of SampleScience’s adorable Toy Keyboard.

Piano One is Sound Magic’s free teaser for their Neo Piano series that combines samples and physical modeling. The newly released Special Edition offers the same features as the original Piano One, but comes with samples of a vintage upright piano instead of the Yamaha C7 concert grand found in the standard version. The physical modeling engine allows you to control the piano sound in great detail, including harmonics, noises, damping, and more. Not bad for a free piano plugin!

Piano One Special Edition is only available until July 8, 2023, after which the download will revert to the standard version. So grab it while it lasts, and then come back after July 8 to get the standard version if you don’t already have it!

Piano One Special Edition is available for macOS and Windows in VST and AU formats.

HY-Plugins HY-Slicer2 free

HY-Plugins has updated the slicing sampler plugin HY-Slicer to version 2. The great news is that there’s still a free version that allows you to explore the capabilities of this powerful plugin. Throw an audio file into the sampler track, chop it up, and go to town using the built-in track, step, and master FX! While HY-Slicer 2 free offers fewer sampler tracks and slicer units than the full version ($60), you still get to enjoy the built-in grid sequencer. A great way to get creative with grooves!

SampleScience Toy Keyboard v3

SampleScience has released a new version of the cute Toy Keyboard library. Based on the Yamaha PSR-78 home keyboard from 1996, Toy Keyboard v3 brings the sounds of classic 90s kiddie keys to your DAW. But don’t be mistaken – you’ll find lots of very usable sounds that can bring a nostalgic digital vibe to your tracks. Furthermore, Toy Keyboard v3 lets you shape the sounds with a couple of filters, an LFO, and a bunch of built-in effects. This one will take you right back!
