Pink2 by Acustica Audio with new audio engine and six analogue-esque plug-ins
Hot on the heels of its badass Azure tube mastering EQ, analogue lovers of the digital realm Acustica Audio announced Pink 2 — a brand new plug-in suite. Based on late ’60s American hardware (likely from API), Pink2 is a flagship product and the debut of Acustica’s Core 12 analog emulation and sampling engine. Those who know Acustica products can vouch for their sterling sound quality, so we expect highly positive results from the package.
Pink2 consists of 6 self-standing plugins:
- Pink2 215: Preamp module with 8 different circuit distortion models.
- Pink2 780: 10 band graphic EQ.
- Pink2 1650: 4 band EQ module with 4 selectable per band models.
- Pink2 2412: Single band compressor.
- Pink2 7236: Multiband compressor.
- Pink2 Channel Strip: Full channel strip with EQ, compressors and preamp options.
A serious piece of kit, all in all! in Acustica’s own words, this is one of the most complete plug-in suites offered by the developer, and it does come across as one of the most fully featured analog mixing and mastering packs on the market. Core 12 technology is worth a spotlight of its own, with an upgraded saturation algorithm, new de-noising tech called STT (Super Transient Technology), and engine optimisations for improved efficiency.
Price & availability
Available in VST, AU, and AAX formats for Windows and Mac computers, Pink2 is available now for EUR 199. A four-week trial version can be downloaded for free. The upgrade to Pink2 is free for owners of the first version, which strikes us as immensely generous. Any owners around here keen to share their enthusiasm?
Overall, a highly impressive release from a developer gaining further fame as an institution in the realm of analog emulations. Strapping these plug-ins across your mixes and masters will likely result in pleasant, punchy sonics with an all-analog vibe. We are lucky to be living in times where analog gear emulations of high quality exist at accessible prices.
