For this reason, we’re excited to check out the new Quantum range of PreSonus audio interfaces with four new models aimed at audio setups with different demands.

Quantum ES

The new Quantum ES range consists of two models, the ES 2 and ES 4 desktop format interfaces with 24-bit 192 kHz recording. For starters, the ES interfaces are equipped with MAX-HD preamps, offering 75 dB of gain. In addition, the top control panel is nicely laid out with clear I/O metering and quick access to your key functions.

More Information

Once again, there are two models: the more compact HD 2 with 20 ins / 24 outs and the 1U rackmount HD8 with an impressive 26 ins / 30 outs. All the functionality from the ES range is available. However, there are a few slightly more pro additions that separate the HD series.

This includes the pair of Re-amping outputs on the front panel. What’s more, there are 16 channels of 48 kHz ADAT expandability via Optical and stereo S/PDIF I/O connectivity. What’s more, the HD 8 can function as a standalone ADAT expander, giving you 8 additional preamps and 10 more outputs.

You can even link up to three Quantum HD 8 interfaces together for up to 24 mic pres. In addition, the HD series includes a Studio One Pro perpetual license and a 12-month Studio One+ subscription.

so the hd8 has 26 in and 20 out. and if you combine 3 hd8 you get 24 in. sounds like a great deal?

I think you’ve confused the total number of analogue and digital inputs with the number of mic pres. It’s clearly stated in the article.

I’m convinced that the launch of the new Quantum HD product will satisfy many musicians and producers. What’s more, being able to chain several Presonus interfaces together to increase the number of inputs available for connecting physical equipment is a major advantage. There’s no doubt that this product will win over users.
