PreSonus intros the Revelator io44 interface and Revelator Dynamic USB microphone
Only a couple of weeks after AudioBox GO, PreSonus launches yet another new USB audio interface. The new PreSonus Revelator io44 is a compact, bus-powered interface with a feature set that just screams podcasting, live streaming, and music production. The same can be said about the new PreSonus Revelator Dynamic USB-C microphone.
PreSonus Revelator io44
The Revelator io44 is Presonus’ second interface in the Revelator series after last year’s Revelator io24. And contrary to what you might think, the io44 is an even smaller interface than the io24, albeit with the same focus on the booming podcasting and streaming scenes.
The Revelator io44 is a bus-powered USB 2.0 audio interface that uses a USB-C connector and records at up to 96 kHz / 24 bit. It features a single XLR-1/4” combo jack for microphone, line, or instrument signals. The fact that it also offers an 1/8” TRRS headset connector and an 1/8” stereo input leaves no doubt about it: This is an interface primarily designed for the needs of live streamers and podcasters. On the back, there’s a pair of 1/4” outputs for your monitors.
But there are even more features geared towards modern content creation. An integrated loopback mixer with two stereo channels lets you bring in audio streams from multiple applications, such as backing tracks, Skype or Zoom calls, or gaming audio. The onboard DSP provides a StudioLive Fat-Channel with effects like high-pass filter, gate, a choice of three compressors and three EQs, and a limiter, as well as voice effects such as doubler, vocoder, ring modulator, and more. There’s a Stream Mix mode for mixing your input signals, effects and loopback channels. And everything can be controlled via the free UC Surface app for iPadOS, Windows and Android.
The PreSonus Revelator io44 audio interface is now available at Thomann* for €169.
PreSonus Revelator Dynamic
The new Revelator Dynamic joins the original Revelator as the second USB microphone of the series. This time, it’s a dynamic mic that sports the classic broadcast mic looks. The Revelator Dynamic connects via USB-C and is bus-powered. It offers a cardioid polar pattern, a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz and a resolution of up to 96 kHz / 24 bit.
The Revelator Dynamic is equipped with a headphone output for latency-free monitoring. The integrated 6×6 audio interface allows for virtual 4-in/4-out streams with two loopback channels for game audio and other sources like Skype or Zoom calls. Like the Revelator io44, the Revelator Dynamic can be controlled via the UC Surface app, which provides access to channel strip presets with EQ, compressor, gate, limiter, and reverb.
The microphone comes with the PTS-1 table stand and a software package consisting of Studio One Artist and Studio Magic Suite. The Revelator Dynamic is compatible with Windows 10 (64 bit), macOS 10.13 and up, iOS and iPadOS (may require an Apple Camera Connection Kit), and Chromebook.
The PreSonus Revelator Dynamic is now available at Thomann* for €189.
