PRS John Mayer Super Eagle: Soaring to new heights?
PRS have finally announced an instrument that was widely rumoured to be in development with John Mayer. In fact, the Private Stock Super Eagle is probably the worst kept secret of the last 12 months.
Everyone knew it was on the cards as Mr Mayer has played it live and used it on his Periscope videos, so this was more a case of when, rather than if. Spec-wise, it’s an interesting scale length – 25.375” – which is longer than the usual PRS scale length. The guitar is loaded with 58/15 JM treble and bass pickups and has a specially wound middle pickup as well. It features an onboard preamp by JCF which has a treble boost, and there are also three mini switches for individual coil taps on the pickups.
The Super Eagle is a Private Stock instrument and will be made in very limited numbers. Each features a hand-signed sticker inside the F-hole designed by John Mayer’s friend David Smith. Mr Smith designed the cover art for John’s Born and Raised album from 2012.
Available to order from 11th March to 1st April only, production of the guitar will be limited to 100 pieces. Maybe this is one for the uber-fans.
RRP GBP £10,995.00
