A guitar that Kanami Tono once dreamed about, now PRS Guitars has announced the Kanami Custom 24-08 Limited Edition model. This limited-run guitar was hand-signed by Kanami Tono of the Japanese hard rock group Band-Maid.
Kanami Custom 24-08
The PRS Kanami Limited Edition Custom 24-08 is limited to 200 models, each hand-signed by the Band-Maid guitarist. This signature model, inspired by Tono’s recent Custom 24-08 PRS, features 85/15 pickups and brushstroke birds.
“PRS has always been an essential part of BAND-MAID’s sound ever since I started playing the Custom 24. When thinking about the specs of my signature model, the control layout of the Custom 24-08 was the best choice as a base, because many BAND-MAID songs require the high E note on the 24th fret, and I often switch between humbucker and single-coil sounds. As for the color finish, I chose Trampas Green Burst. This is the color of my first PRS I bought when I decided to become a professional guitarist with BAND-MAID. One of my dreams to have my own signature model has come true here, and I would say this guitar is an extension of my first PRS. What an honor it is!” – Kanami Tono
Band-Maid
PRS has been a cornerstone of Band-Maid’s sound since they first picked up a Custom 24. The 24-fret neck and coil-tap switches provide the flexibility to transition between powerful humbucking and crisp single-coil tones.
Construction
This model’s construction is fairly typical for the Custom 24. It features a solid mahogany body with a violin-carved quilted maple top. It has a ‘Pattern Thin’ mahogany neck and an ebony fretboard with the brushstroke PRS Bird inlays. The Band-Maid logo appears on the truss rod cover.
It has a high-gloss nitro Trampas Green Smokeburst finish, which looks great, shows off the quilted maple top, and works well with the Smoke Black hardware.
The PRS Kanami Limited Edition ships in the new PRS ATA multi-fit molded case.
Limited Run
I really like the colour and overall specification of this one. With only 200 available, each signed by Kanami Tomo, I feel these could sell out quickly. Japanese band fans can be hungry for unique opportunities to own items like this. PRS collectors will also enjoy the unique limited-run model.
