PRS revisits 35th Anniversary SE Custom 24 in a spectacular Faded Blue Burst
Limited run of 3,000 units worldwide
As part of its ongoing celebrations to celebrate 35 years in the business, PRS Guitars has just announced a new 35th Anniversary SE Custom 24. Yes, we’ve seen this model before, with the same appointments that include the TCI “S” pickups. But this limited run comes in a luxurious deep blue finish. If you missed the first versions of this guitar, here’s another opportunity to check it out.
PRS 35th Anniversary SE Custom 24
In October 2019, PRS released an SE Custom 24 model that the company says sold out quickly. Nearly a year later PRS is releasing another version in a special Faded Blue Burst finish, which holds up nicely to the stylish Black Gold Wrap Burst finish of the previous incarnation. The press release quotes Jack Higginbotham, PRS Guitars’ COO:
We had high hopes that this configuration would speak to players and deliver a lot of value. Judging by how quickly we sold through the first offering, I would say those hopes were verified. I am glad we are able to offer this second run of instruments.

Apart from the finish, the rest of the guitar repeats the same SE Custom 24 formula as the previous version. There’s the PRS 24-fret wide thin neck, loaded with abalone “old school” birds and the PRS’ patented tremolo system, which has a proven track record for great tuning. The body is mahogany with a carved maple top and a flame maple veneer. The maple neck has a rosewood fingerboard, giving you a nice mix of good tone woods that should help you get all the tones you need.
This limited run PRS 35th Anniversary SE Custom 24 certainly is a looker! I like that they have included a pair of TCI “S” treble and bass pickups that can be controlled with two mini-toggle switches for extra tonal possibilities. The switches let you access either or both pickups in humbucking or true single-coil mode.
PRS states that there fewer than 3,000 units of this model will be offered. Although that sounds like a lot, given the large worldwide PRS they should sell pretty quickly. At GBP 929 / EUR 1025, you’re getting quite a lot of guitar for your money.
